Not exactly the start of the sailing season I was looking for.  The temperatures I was prepared for but the threat of rain was too much for many people.  You noticed I said the threat of rain, though it did rain briefly at the start of the race it didn’t last long. 

But no matter the conditions, there were those that were eager for the racing to begin to test their new boat against the competition.  We had a record number of new boats out for this first race; Dan McGraw was out in his new Hobie 33, Dark Star; Kent Rogers was sailing his new trophy boat, C&C 99 Slingshot; Robert Jones was sailing his Columbia 8.7, Slapit and Jim Rapp has hung up his Colgate 26 for a Beneteau First 305.

A big thank you to Edith Collins, Dale Owens and the rest of the UYC gang that provided us with our first opportunity to race in 2022.
